When I’m looking for information online, I usually read blog articles. Most of the time, I find these articles when I ask questions in search engines. When I was trying to figure out what to do about my endlessly frustrating allergies, I spoke to my GP. Afterwards, I wanted to know how, what, why and when to try the things he’d mentioned. I’m the type of person who will start searching for basic info and then end up deep into scientific papers. But blogs gave me an abundance of advice. Some blogs were on sites that sold services or products that relieved symptoms.
Most were ENT doctors, allergy specialists or other similar experts. At no point did I feel that I was being sold to, though. Instead, I was given helpful information that actually helped me learn something.
Blog copywriting is a win-win for you and your audience. You get the benefit of organic traffic as people find your optimised articles online. You also get to be the expert in your niche. Your audience gets the benefit of tips, advice, guides and other useful information that helps solve their problems.
Focus on helping readers rather than selling and promoting directly.
Improve your SEO with fresh, regular, optimised content on your site.
Grow your online reputation to become a trusted source of information.
Fun fact: I started this journey as a blog writer way back in 2005. That was long before business blogging was a thing. Back then, personal blogs were a fun way to connect to readers all over the online world. Blogging has evolved a huge deal since those days. Today, monthly blogging packages remain one of the main services that I offer to brands across all niches.
You don’t have to churn out loads of posts each month to see the benefits of blogging, however. Slowly building a blog that features interesting, relevant, optimised blogs targeted to your audience will help in many ways. With blogging, quality will always beat quantity. Shorter general interest blogs, long-form guides, FAQ type blogs, promotional blogs, service or product usage blogs… all of these will add value. A content plan will help you know what to post to get the most from your blog.
Loading up your site with keywords and hoping for the best will hurt your site. You need to understand the way search engines and humans think. You need to think beyond SEO, to provide the best possible experience to anyone who lands on your site.
Blog article writing improves your SEO organically, giving your audience valuable content and subtly promoting your business.
